General William Maxwell Chapter, NSDAR, Patriots

The chapter’s namesake, William Maxwell, was appointed a brigadier general on October 23, 1776. He resigned his commission on June 25, 1780. After the war, he was elected to the New Jersey Legislature. General George Maxwell died on November 12, 1798. He is buried, along with 19 other Revolutionary War Patriots, in Old Greenwich Cemetery in Stewartsville, New Jersey.
